Backstube
by jahirtrap
Backstube lets players bake their own music discs from custom audio files and JSON data, with the discs working in jukeboxes and data packs.
What it does
Custom discs are defined in a JSON file that points to an .ogg audio file. Each disc can set its title, artist, length, rarity, comparator output and custom item model, and can be tuned for volume, pitch, attenuation and distance. Audio files are resolved automatically from the assets folder, so a single disc item can be driven entirely by data components.
The mod also covers gameplay: discs work with vanilla compatibility and with data-pack mechanics such as loot tables, trades, commands and predicates. A configurable looping option lets a song repeat infinitely or a fixed number of times in a jukebox. Developers working in Java can create disc stacks in code, look up discs through the registry, and register dedicated disc items through the API that Backstube exposes for other mods. Mod Menu is optional.
Backstube is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 10 release versions, 1.20 – 26.3. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. The code is not open source; the mod is released under All rights reserved, and public links exist for the source code, issue tracker and wiki. Backstube Music depends on it.
