With BackpackMod, players carry extra inventory in tiered backpack items, from a leather pack with 18 slots up to a netherite pack with 117 slots.
What it does
Six backpack tiers are added as items: leather with 18 slots, copper with 27, iron with 36, amethyst with 45, gold with 54 and diamond with 77. The netherite backpack holds 117 slots and is fireproof, so it survives fire and lava. The mod runs in the 1.18.2 and 1.19 game versions.
Fabric API must be installed next to BackpackMod, since the mod requires it to work on Fabric Loader. Both sides need the mod: the environment is client and server, so the server and every player install it. Other mods and datapacks can register new backpack items through a JSON format, and the author states the mod may be included in modpacks.
Files exist for 1.18.2 and 1.19. The latest Fabric file, 1.19-4.0.5 for 1.19, was published on 2022-07-25, after a first release on 2022-07-24. The source code and issue tracker are public, and the code is released under the MIT License as open source.
