Axolotl Bucket Fix (Forge)

The mod makes the axolotl bucket item display the correct axolotl type inside it. Without it, the item texture does not reveal which variant is stored. A client-side Forge mod, it fixes the item texture so the bucket shows what is inside, and it adds textures for baby forms so the contents of each bucket can be identified.

Axolotl Bucket Fix for Forge uses Forge's Model API to create a dynamic item model, rather than relying on vanilla item model overrides. The author reports that this approach is more stable and works with multiple axolotl variant mods without manual setup. Textures for the adult forms still need to be placed under the axolotlbucketfix:item/axolotl bucket folder, named by variant, while the built-in models and textures of the Fabric version cover the More Axolotl Variants mod.

Only the client needs the mod, since it changes how the item looks. Builds exist for Forge across 7 release versions, 1.17.1 – 1.19.2, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code is open source. The author maintains the mod for Forge's Active LTS versions, so support for other versions is found elsewhere.
