attention!

by Zl0

Attention is a Fabric client-side mod that draws a compact segmented marker near the crosshair when a hostile is close but outside the view.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.8 – 1.21.11

What it does

The marker points toward the nearest valid off-screen threat, such as a hostile mob approaching from behind, so a sudden zombie hit or creeper blast is less likely to catch a player unaware. An optional directional ping appears first, giving a calmer warning before damage arrives.

Only the client needs the mod, so a single-player world or a multiplayer client can run it alone and a server can go without it. Attention requires Fabric API and can use Mod Menu for its options. Its code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and files are published for 1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, with 0.1.0 on 1.21.11 as the latest beta release.

Key features

  1. Segmented warning marker

A compact marker sits around the crosshair and shows when a threat is nearby outside the current view.

  2. Off-screen threat tracking

The nearest valid hostile outside the view is selected, and the marker reflects its approach.

  3. Directional ping

An optional directional indicator appears first, before the marker, to flag the threat's direction.

  4. Player list filter

Off-screen players can be filtered out of the tracking, and the whole mod can be disabled completely.

Use cases

Staying calm in dark caves

Players who dislike sudden hits in low light can keep the view close to vanilla while still knowing where danger sits.

Light awareness in survival

A subtle marker suits survival play that avoids loud HUD elements and wants a little more control over nearby danger.

Who it’s for: Survival players who prefer subtle quality-of-life tools over loud HUD elements, and who want awareness of hostiles outside their view without a heavy interface.
