Atlas-Map replaces the chunk-by-chunk map clutter of Minecraft with one map that grows as the player explores, drawn by a single expanding atlas item.

What it does

The mod adds an Atlas, a map item crafted from leather and empty maps. A player equips it in a dedicated Atlas slot above the offhand, where it spends one empty map for each new 128×128 area it reveals. Rather than piling up many separate maps, the result is one map that keeps expanding, and Minecraft's own map renderer draws it, so each pixel matches a vanilla map exactly while the area is bigger.

Holding the Atlas in the hands and pressing M opens the map with the map raised, as the vanilla map does, and the player can keep walking while viewing it. Scrolling zooms, and a player who stands still can grab the cursor and drag to pan. The mod runs on the client and the server, so both sides need it, and it depends on Fabric API. Files are published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 26.1.2, and the code is not open source under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Crafted Atlas item

The Atlas is made from one leather and empty maps, so it costs the same empty maps that vanilla map-making uses.

  2. Dedicated Atlas slot

An equipped Atlas sits in its own inventory slot above the offhand instead of taking a hand.

  3. Single growing map

The map expands as the player walks into new areas, and each new 128×128 area costs one empty map.

  4. Map view controls

Pressing M opens the map, scrolling zooms, and dragging the cursor pans the view while standing still.

What the author says

One map. Always growing. Always in your hands. Atlas replaces Minecraft's chunk-by-chunk map clutter with a single, expanding map you craft, equip, and explore with. As you travel, it charts the world for you — for exactly the empty maps vanilla would cost, so it never feels like cheating.
