Astraeus' Mercy

by bambam01

Astraeus' Mercy stops a player from dying repeatedly to the same damage source by sending them to a safe spawn point just before the fatal hit.

ForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 onlyOpen source1.7.10

What it does

Once the same kind of damage has ended a player's life several times within a short window, the mod moves that player to the spawn point of a safe dimension right before the next fatal hit. By default it acts on the third consecutive death from asphyxiation when the deaths come less than two minutes apart, so a player who dies in space is not stranded there without breathing equipment.

The mod is useful alongside space-travel mods such as WarpDrive, where a respawn point in orbit can otherwise become a loop of deaths. It targets the overworld spawn rather than a bed, and the thresholds, time window and damage sources are set in its configuration.

The mod is published for Forge only, for 1.7.10. The server and every player need the mod installed. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, and its source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Death loop detection

Counts consecutive deaths from the same damage source within a configurable time window.

  2. Safe dimension teleport

Just ahead of a lethal blow, the player is relocated to the spawn point of a safe dimension.

  3. Configurable thresholds

The death count, time window and damage sources can be changed, with asphyxiation as the default trigger.

  4. Overworld spawn target

Sends the player to the overworld spawn rather than their bed, so the destination does not depend on a bed being set.

When someone dies x number of times in quick succession, they are teleported back to the world spawn of a safe dimension just before death.
