Ashore

by dannytaylor

Ashore changes how fast boats move across water and ice, so a boat carries more speed after it leaves the shore.

FabricNeoForgeQuiltClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.19.4 – 26.2

What it does

Ashore adjusts the velocity of boats so they travel faster on water. The mod sets a higher land friction value of 0.9F, which lets boats keep speed when they move from land onto water. Blocks such as Blue Ice behave the same as in vanilla, so the change affects boats and not the surfaces they cross.

The mod is published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt across six release versions, 1.19.4 – 26.2, and it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, which makes it open source. Both the server and every player need it, since boat movement is handled on both sides. The author lists the source code and issue tracker as public links. The author has tested it with a small number of other boat-related mods and knows of no incompatibilities, but the list of tested mods is short.

Key features

  1. Faster boats on water

Boats gain speed when they move across water, so trips between shores take less time.

  2. Higher land friction

A landFriction value of 0.9F lets boats keep momentum when they leave land.

  3. Vanilla surfaces unchanged

Slippery blocks such as Blue Ice give the same speed as in vanilla, so only boats are affected.

  4. Tested with few mods

The author tested Ashore with a small set of other boat mods and reports no known conflicts.
