ApricityUI

by MerrySnow

ApricityUI is a UI framework that lets modpack authors and developers build Minecraft interfaces with HTML, CSS and JavaScript syntax.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient required, server optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 onlyOpen source1.18.2 – 26.1.2

What it does

Interfaces are written with the classic HTML, CSS and JS trio, and the syntax follows Web standards closely. Simple shape drawing, nested rendering and effects are supported, and the framework can render block content inside a screen. Almost everything hot-reloads instantly, and built-in developer tools provide visual debugging for checking layout while a UI is being written.

The JS side depends on KubeJS, which is optional, so a modpack author who uses KubeJS can draw whatever interface a pack needs. Without KubeJS the framework still provides its rendering and debugging tools. Its syntax is kept essentially fixed and stays close to Web standards, so interfaces can be upgraded across game versions without compatibility breaks.

The mod is built entirely from scratch in Java and does not bundle a Chrome runtime. Its jar is light and needs nothing extra to run. It is client required and server optional, so players need it while a server may leave it out. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only and is open source. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 14 release versions, 1.18.2 – 26.1.2.

Key features

  1. HTML, CSS and JS interfaces

Screens are described with markup, stylesheets and scripts, so web developers can start without learning a separate layout language.

  2. Shape drawing and effects

Simple shapes, nested rendering and visual effects can be combined in one interface, and blocks can be rendered inside it.

  3. Instant hot reload

Most changes apply as soon as a file is saved, which shortens the cycle between editing an interface and checking it in game.

  4. Visual debugging tools

Built-in developer tools show the structure of an interface, which helps locate layout problems during development.

  5. Shared naming scheme

Ore AE themes are built to look more like Minecraft, while general-purpose themes use one CSS naming pattern, so moving between them takes little adjustment.

Questions

Does ApricityUI need KubeJS?

No. KubeJS is optional and only needed for the JS side. Without it, the HTML and CSS parts of the framework still work.

Which loaders does ApricityUI support?

Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. The latest Fabric and NeoForge files are version 1.2.7 for 26.1, and the latest Forge file is 1.2.7 for 1.20.1.

Does a server need ApricityUI installed?

No. Players need it in their own game, while a server can run without it.

What the author says

Build UIs with HTML + CSS + JS. The syntax follows Web standards as closely as possible. ApricityUI was built around one goal: a UI framework that is low-friction, convenient, and broadly capable. That is why it takes the classic HTML + CSS + JS trio as its core.
