Apothic Combat

by muon-rw

Apothic Combat is a Forge and NeoForge compatibility layer that connects the Apotheosis item system with Better Combat's weapon attributes.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Apotheosis groups weapons into a Heavy Weapon category that loosely parallels Better Combat's two-handed weapons, though the two systems are unrelated. Apothic Combat bridges them: every two-handed Better Combat weapon is registered automatically as a Heavy Weapon for Apotheosis, so the category covers them without manual setup.

The mod also takes over reach handling. It strips the reach attribute from every weapon, which leaves the Apotheosis Attack Range affix with no effect, and it keeps that affix from appearing on items at all. Weapons that still depend on reach can have their attributes adjusted through the mod's settings.

Apothic Combat requires Better Combat and Apotheosis, which cannot be listed as a dependency on Modrinth. Apothic Combat is published for Forge and NeoForge, with 1.1.0 for 1.20.1 and 1.2.1+1.21.1 for 1.21.1 as the latest files. The server and every player need the mod installed. The code is under the MIT License, and the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Heavy Weapon registration

Two-handed Better Combat weapons are registered automatically as Heavy Weapons for Apotheosis.

  2. Reach attribute removal

The reach attribute is removed from all weapons, replacing reach-based stats with the mod's own handling.

  3. Attack Range affix control

The Apotheosis Attack Range affix is kept from appearing, so loot does not roll a stat that has no effect.

  4. Weapon attribute changes

Attributes of weapons that relied on reach can be modified to keep their behavior working.
