AnyFreeType
by TakiSpl
AnyFreeType lifts the TrueType-only limit in Minecraft's font loader so that FreeType-compatible font files can be used in the game.
What it does
Minecraft's code accepts TTF fonts for its glyph providers but refuses other FreeType-compatible formats, including OpenType OTF fonts. AnyFreeType removes that restriction, letting the TTF glyph provider load those files as well. It runs on the client alone, so players install it and servers do not need it. Files are published for Fabric and NeoForge, covering 1.21.4 – 1.21.8, under the MIT License, and the project is open source.
Key features
Other font formats load
Font files that FreeType can read, not only TrueType files, can be loaded by the TTF glyph provider.
OpenType fonts in the glyph provider
OpenType OTF font files become usable through the same glyph provider that handles TrueType fonts.
Font loading limit removed
The check that refused non-TrueType fonts is lifted, so the font setup accepts a wider set of files.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.

What the author says
Minecraft's code supports any FreeType-compatible font, but refuses to only load them if they are TrueType (ttf) fonts. This mod simply removes that limitation by making the ttf glyph provider able to load any FreeType-compatible font, such as OpenType (otf) fonts.
