Anti Ghost Gap

by brlw

Anti Ghost Gap stops ghost golden apples by releasing the use key on the exact tick an eat completes, so no extra ticks are logged.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

The client tracks its own eat timer and watches the inventory slot update packets sent by the server. When the timer has run out and the server has confirmed the item was consumed, the mod force-releases the use key at that tick, which stops the eat without any over-hold. A ghost gap happens in unmodded play when the client keeps holding right-click after the timer hits zero until the server responds, and the server can then detect a desync in the amount eaten.

Hold-to-gap behaviour is built in. If the player is still physically holding right-click after a force-release, the mod starts the next golden apple on the following tick, so the player can eat golden apples back-to-back by holding the button. An action bar message reports the state. The mod works with regular and enchanted golden apples and is a Fabric mod for version 1.21.11, released under the MIT License. It is not open source.

Key features

  1. Exact-tick release

The use key is released on the tick the eat completes, once the timer has expired and the server has confirmed the item.

  2. Continuous eating

Holding right-click keeps eating golden apples in sequence, with the next one started on the next tick.

  3. Action bar status

Hold-to-gap state is shown in the action bar so the player can see what the mod is doing.

Use cases

Back-to-back golden apples in combat

A player who holds right-click can eat several golden apples in a row without the client adding extra ticks to each one.

Who it’s for: Players who eat golden apples in PvP or on servers where the ghost gap timing matters, and who play with the Fabric loader on version 1.21.11.

What the author says

A lightweight client-side Fabric mod for version 1.21.11 that eliminates ghost golden apples by forcing a release at the exact tick consumption completes, and lets you hold right-click to continuously eat back-to-back- unlike Xicz Gap Releaser which does prevent ghost gaps the same that this mod does, but does not…
