Always Rain
by Itamio
Always Rain keeps rain falling across a Forge world, so the weather never clears until a config change turns it off.
What it does
The mod sets rain to run continuously on every world it loads into, and an optional config setting holds thunderstorms in place the same way. Changes made to the config file while the game runs take effect immediately, because the file hot-reloads without a restart. The mod is a simple weather setting for servers that want a steadier, gloomier atmosphere than vanilla cycles provide.
Installation requires only Forge 1.12.2 on the server, since the environment is server-side only and players join without installing anything. The mod adds no new items, blocks, mobs or commands, and it does not alter other mechanics. Its single Forge file is 1.0.0 for 1.12.2, released 2026-03-31, and the project is published under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Continuous rain
Rain stays active across the whole world and does not stop until a config change ends it.
Optional constant thunder
A config option keeps thunderstorms going instead of letting them pass with the weather cycle.
Hot-reloading config
Edits to the config file apply while the game is running, with no restart needed.
Server-side operation
The weather logic loads on the Forge server alone, so clients need nothing extra.

Use cases
Moody survival servers
Server owners who want a rainy, subdued atmosphere can keep weather constant for every player on the world.
Atmosphere-focused builds
Players building scenes that depend on overcast weather can hold rain in place without re-toggling it by hand.
Who it’s for: Server owners running Forge 1.12.2 who want constant rain or thunder on their world, and players who prefer a permanently wet setting.
How it compares
No Rain & Thunder is also server-side only and runs on Forge, but it covers 1.19.2 – 1.20.1 instead of 1.12.2, and it is not open source. The Sound of Rain is client-side only, so it changes what players hear rather than the weather itself, and it targets 1.20 – 1.20.4 on Forge and NeoForge under the MIT License. Particle Rain (Backport) is also client-side only and built for 1.12.2, but it adds rain particles rather than controlling the weather, and it is released under the MIT License.
