Age Lock Indicator

by Daimy

Age Lock Indicator marks age-locked baby mobs with a small golden dandelion icon that players see while they hold a golden dandelion or crouch.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved26.1 – 26.3

What it does

The indicator appears over age-locked baby mobs in view, drawn as a subtle golden dandelion that stays within a short render distance. Line of sight is respected, so an icon does not show through walls. Its size scales slightly with distance, which keeps far-away mobs readable without crowding the screen.

Display is set by a configurable trigger: by default the icon shows only while the player crouches or holds a golden dandelion, and a setting can make it always visible. The default settings keep the indicator unobtrusive rather than filling the screen with icons. The mod was checked alongside rendering-performance mods and shader support through Iris.

Installation needs Fabric API. The mod is client-side only, so the server does not need it. It is published for Fabric alone across five release versions, 26.1 – 26.3, under All rights reserved, and it is not open source. Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are optional and add a settings screen.

Key features

  1. Age-lock markers

Baby mobs that are age-locked gain a golden dandelion icon, so their state can be read at a glance.

  2. Line of sight

Icons are hidden when a wall or other block sits between the player and the mob.

  3. Distance scaling

The indicator grows or shrinks slightly with distance and fades past a short render range.

  4. Configurable display

The player can choose whether the icon appears only while crouching or holding a golden dandelion, or always.

Questions

Does Age Lock Indicator need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required, so it must be installed next to the mod on the client.

Does the server need Age Lock Indicator?

No. The mod is client-side only, so a server runs without it and players join without installing anything extra.

How can the icon's display trigger be changed?

The display setting can be switched to show the indicator only while crouching or holding a golden dandelion, or to keep it always visible. Optional settings support comes from Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL).
