Adaptive Performance Tweaks
by Kaworru
Adaptive Performance Tweaks is a server-side mod that tracks the load on the Minecraft server and automatically tunes chosen systems to ease lag.
What it does
Rather than asking server owners to assemble separate modules, Adaptive Performance Tweaks bundles its major feature groups into one mod. It covers spawn control with spawn presets, game rule adaptation, cleanup of item, XP orb and arrow entities, and beginner protection for players logging in. Its simulation distance adapts to load and to player movement, clamping down harder during heavy exploration and recovering gradually once players stop moving. Optional advanced throttles can touch AI, chunk generation and view distance, and monitoring and benchmarking tools report on what is happening.
The mod helps most with performance problems caused by too many mobs or repeated spawn attempts, and it is less helpful for issues that originate elsewhere. The mod can be run on dedicated servers, in single-player worlds and in worlds opened to LAN. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and the mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 18 release versions, 1.18.2 – 26.3. Players join without it, since only the server has to run the mod. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Adaptive simulation distance
Simulation distance stays load-aware, tightening during heavy exploration and relaxing once movement stops.
Spawn presets
Spawn control is configured through presets, and templates and examples are documented on the project wiki.
Item, XP orb and arrow cleanup
Dropped items, experience orbs and arrows are removed to keep entity counts from growing.
Single root command
All options are reached through the aptweaks command root, with four diagnostic commands for checking a server that feels wrong.
