Xaero's Biome Filter
by deanxbox
Xaero's Biome Filter, a client-side Fabric mod, adds biome filtering to Xaero's World Map so players can pick which biomes appear on the map.
What it does
The filter works on the map that Xaero's World Map draws. Players choose which biomes stay visible, so the rest of the terrain is hidden and the wanted biomes stand out while exploring a large world.
The mod needs Fabric API and Xaero's World Map to run. It was tested alongside Xaero's Minimap and targets Minecraft 26.2 and newer builds in the 26.1 – 26.3 range. Files are published for Fabric only, with 1.1.2+26.3 as the latest file for 26.3, released 2026-09-16.
Only the client needs the mod, so servers and other players do not have to install it. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.
Key features
Biome filtering on the map
Selected biomes are shown on the Xaero's World Map view while the rest of the terrain is filtered out.
Works with the map and minimap
The filter is built for Xaero's World Map and was tested alongside Xaero's Minimap.
Client-only install
The filter runs on the player's client alone, so a server does not need to add it.

Use cases
Finding specific biomes
A player looking for a rare biome, such as a mushroom field or a badlands area, can hide everything else on the map and locate it faster.
Mapping a large world
Someone charting a big survival or exploration world can filter the map by biome to see how the regions are arranged.
Who it’s for: Players who already use Xaero's World Map on Fabric and want to filter the map by biome. Players on other loaders will not find a version of this filter here.
How it compares
XaeroNuhUh is server-side only and open source under the MIT License, with Fabric and NeoForge files for 1.21.1 – 26.2; it changes server behavior rather than the map. XaeroPatcher is client-side only, works on Fabric for 1.21.11, and is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Xaero's Biome Filter is client-side only, open source under the MIT License, and built for Fabric.
