WorldDragger

by walkingCha0s

WorldDragger lets players select a region of blocks by looking through the world and then move, copy, cut and rotate the selection.

FabricClient or server, optionalCreative Commons Attribution 4.01.21 – 1.21.10

What it does

A selection is started by holding a stick and left-clicking, then extended by right-clicking to include more blocks. Once the selection is set, a drag can cut and move the contents, or copy and move them, following the player's looking direction. Drags can be rotated with the mouse wheel and ended with a paste, which suits moving builds, redstone machines and groups of entities.

The mod runs on Fabric and is published for 1.21 – 1.21.10, with 5.2 for 1.21.10 as the latest file. Either side can run it, and neither needs it. The code is not open source; the mod is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. The author notes that the tool can duplicate large structures in bulk, so it should be used with care on shared servers.

Key features

  1. Visual selection

Selections are built visually by looking through the world, so blocks can be chosen without typing coordinates.

  2. Cut and copy drags

A drag can either cut and move the selected blocks or copy and move them, leaving the original in place.

  3. Rotation while dragging

The mouse wheel rotates the selection during a drag, so builds can be placed in another orientation.

  4. Mass duplication

Copy drags can repeat large builds, including mountains, villages and redstone computers, in a single operation.

Use cases

Moving redstone machines

A redstone machine can be cut from one location and pasted elsewhere with its wiring intact.

Relocating builds

Finished structures can be shifted to another spot in the world without rebuilding them block by block.

Who it’s for: Players who move or copy large builds in creative or survival worlds, and server owners who want to allow such tools with care.

How it compares

Full comparison

Always Off-hand is a client-side only Fabric mod for 1.21.11, released into the public domain under The Unlicense, and it handles off-hand slots rather than block selections. MovableInventory is also client-side only, published for 1.21.8 – 1.21.11 and all rights reserved, and it moves inventory screens rather than world blocks. WorldDragger differs by targeting the world itself and by being usable on either side.

Questions

Does WorldDragger need to be installed on the server?

No. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, so a client alone is enough to use the tool.

Which Minecraft versions does WorldDragger support?

Files are published for 1.21 – 1.21.10, and the newest Fabric build is 5.2 for 1.21.10.

Can WorldDragger be used on a shared server?

The author warns that the mass duplication feature should be used with caution, since copying large builds can overload a server.

What the author says

Move mountains, duplicate villages, fill your friend's server with silly builds because he gave you OP (use with caution) or mass duplicate redstone calc units in your redstone computer, and more with just a swing of your head. It could not be easier. WorldDrag lets you select and move builds, redstone machines and…
