by huanmeng-qwq

WindowFix stops the game loop from hanging on Windows when the title-bar system menu is opened by right-click, minimized or restored.

What it does

On Windows, interacting with the title-bar system menu can cause the Minecraft game loop to hang or stutter. WindowFix addresses this by blocking the title-bar system menu through a Win32 window hook, which the author describes as a freeze workaround for maximum stability. The mod is a client-side utility, so only the player's client needs it and servers run without it.

The fix applies to the Windows client only. Once the config file is generated after the first launch, its values can be changed, but the game must be restarted afterwards for the changes to take effect. The mod keeps the system menu enabled through a native MNS MODELESS compatibility handling, so the menu can still be used in a safer way while the freeze is avoided. The mod is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only, so the code is open source.

Key features

  1. Title-bar freeze fix

Blocks the title-bar system menu from causing the game loop to hang when it is opened or interacted with.

  2. Native system menu handling

Keeps the system menu enabled through a native MNS MODELESS compatibility path, rather than disabling it.

  3. Win32 window hook

Installs a Win32 window hook that serves as the freeze workaround on Windows clients.

  4. Configurable options

A config file is generated after the first launch, and the game is restarted after changing its values.
