WatchDog AntiCheat

by MaxSaleh

WatchDog AntiCheat is a Forge utility that lets a server owner limit which mods and texture packs a client may join with.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.19

What it does

The mod adds a mod whitelist and a texture pack whitelist to a server, so that clients running mods or texture packs not on the lists are kept out. It is aimed at mod pack authors and server owners who want to block cheating clients, and it checks the auto-click and gamma settings of a joining player against the list entries.

Setting it up takes a few steps. Install the mod on the client and enable debug output in its client config file. Launch the client once, wait for the main menu, and then copy the generated mods list and texture pack list from the WatchDogAC folder. Paste those lists into the whitelist options of the server config file, and the server is then ready. Changes made to the config are picked up without a restart.

The mod is released under the MIT License, but it is not open source. It works for Forge 1.19 only, with the latest file, 1.19-0.2, dated 2022-07-31. The server and every player need the mod installed.

Key features

  1. Mod whitelisting

Only mods listed in the server's whitelist are allowed to join, and any other mod set blocks entry.

  2. Texture pack whitelisting

Texture packs can be restricted the same way, so players must use exactly the packs the server lists.

  3. Auto-click and gamma checks

The mod checks a joining client for auto-click and gamma settings that the server owner has decided against.

  4. Generated lists from the client

A debug client run writes the mods and texture packs it finds to text files, which the server owner copies into the config.

Use cases

Protecting a modded server

A server owner can hold back clients that carry known cheating mods by listing only the approved mods.

Pinning texture packs

A server can require one exact texture pack, so every player on it sees the same resources.

Who it’s for: Mod pack authors and server owners who run modded Forge servers and want to control which mods and texture packs can join.

How it compares

Offline Whitelist - Username-Based is server-side only for Forge 1.18.2 and is not open source; it is a username list rather than a mod check. Kinetic Anti-Cheat is for Forge 1.7.10 – 1.12.2, runs on client and server, and is licensed as All rights reserved.
