Virtual Motion Capture for Minecraft

by Provismet

Virtual Motion Capture for Minecraft sends the player's in-game state to VMC-compatible tracking applications, so a VTuber model can follow the avatar's actions.

FabricQuiltClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.19 – 1.21.11

What it does

Once the client is connected, the mod streams data in the VMC protocol, which lets external applications drive a VTuber model. Health levels, taking or dealing damage, and other events from the player's game are mapped onto the model's BlendShapes, and a complete list of which in-game actions trigger which BlendShapes is kept on the wiki with gallery examples.

The mod is client-side only, so only the player running the game needs it; a server can run without it. Fabric API is required, and the mod is published for Fabric and Quilt across 24 release versions, 1.19 – 1.21.11. Its code is open source under the MIT License. UniVRM requires a compatibility mode when the model is imported, as noted by the author.

Key features

  1. VMC protocol output

The client sends player data in the VMC protocol, the format used by VTuber model tracking software.

  2. BlendShape mapping

In-game states such as health and events like taking or dealing damage are mapped onto the model's BlendShapes.

  3. Wiki reference

A wiki lists the complete set of BlendShapes and the player actions that activate each one, with gallery examples.

  4. OSC compatibility

Through the Open Sound Control extension, the mod can work with OSC applications in addition to VMC ones.
