Vanilla Materials Expanded adds extra stick textures that match the wood a stick is made from, and it runs as a server-required mod with an optional client side.

What it does

Sticks take on the texture of the wood they are crafted from, so the item lines up with the rest of the wood-based vanilla blocks. The mod is built to stay light and close to vanilla, changing how the world looks without adding new mechanics. It is distributed as a datapack alongside the Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt files, and the server needs it while a player may leave it out. Builds cover 1.21.9 – 26.3, and the newest file is 2.0-beta6+mod for 26.3, released as a beta on 2026-10-03. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.

Just put the zipped file into your worlds datapacks folder AND your resource pack folder. If it says it is outdated, ignore the message.
