What it does

Vanilla Backrooms generates a series of levels modeled on the Backrooms concept, including a tutorial level, a habitable zone, abandoned utility halls, an electrical station, an abandoned office and a hotel level. Each area is built from the vanilla blocks and objects that the author drew from the Backrooms Wiki, and the levels are entered and left through level keys.

Because it is installed only on the server, players join without installing anything, whether the server is dedicated or a single-player world opened to LAN. The mod is built on Polymer, which handles the vanilla look of the content on the client side. Installation requires Fabric API and Polymer, and the mod is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, with its source code and issue tracker public. Files target 1.21.8, 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, and the latest build for Fabric and Quilt is 0.1.2+1.21.11, published on 2026-03-26 on the beta channel.

What the author says

TLDR: Vanilla-Backrooms is a server-side only Backrooms mod based on Polymer, made with info from the Backrooms Wiki. Ever wanted to put your friends in the backrooms, but it would be way too suspicious to make them download a mod?
