Upgraded Hoppers
by oNgnissiM
Upgraded Hoppers adds faster hopper tiers to Minecraft, from the Iron Hopper through to a Beacon Hopper, each tier moving items quicker than the one before.
What it does
The mod keeps the vanilla hopper as its starting point and adds a ladder of upgraded versions. The Iron Hopper runs at 7 ticks, the Copper Hopper at 6, the Gold Hopper at 5, the Emerald Hopper at 4, the Diamond Hopper at 3, the Obsidian Hopper at 2 and the Netherite Hopper at 1 tick. Every step removes one tick from the transfer delay, so the faster tiers are a direct upgrade of the earlier ones.
The top of the ladder is the Beacon Hopper. It does not funnel items through the hoppers in a chain. Instead it sends each item straight to the last hopper in the chain, which means a hopper placed below a funnel can receive items without them passing downward. Its technical delay is one tick because of how chaining works, so a line of hoppers moves one item per tick at the end of the chain, multiplied by the number of hoppers.
A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. It is published for Fabric and Quilt, with builds for 1.20.1 and 1.20.2 and 0.0.1-1.20.1 as the latest file. The code is under the MIT License and is open source. The author describes it as a first project and plans further features over time.
Key features
Seven hopper tiers
Iron, copper, gold, emerald, diamond, obsidian and netherite hoppers each cut the transfer delay by one tick.
Beacon Hopper
The highest tier sends each item straight to the last hopper in a chain, with a one-tick delay for the whole chain.
Chained placement
Because the Beacon Hopper bypasses the funnel path, a hopper can sit below a funnel and still receive items.
Vanilla-style crafting
The new hoppers are added alongside the vanilla hopper and fit into existing storage builds without changing their layout.
