Unlocked World Border

by Ekical

Unlocked World Border removes the limit of the vanilla world border, so players can leave the border and still place, break and interact with blocks outside it.

FabricClient and serverApache License 2.0Open source1.21.4 – 1.21.11

What it does

Once a player goes past the border, the usual restriction no longer applies, and interaction with blocks beyond the edge works as it does inside. Crossing the border gives the player a purple-ish tint on screen, a visual cue that the limit has been passed. The mod can also shrink the border over time and scale the damage a player takes while outside it, so staying out for long becomes costly.

The mod is a Fabric build for 1.21.4 – 1.21.11, released under the Apache License 2.0, and its source code is public. It runs on the client and on the server, so both the server and every player need it for the feature to work across a multiplayer world. Only the Fabric loader is supported, and no other dependency is listed.

Key features

  1. Crossing the border

Players can walk beyond the vanilla world border and keep exploring past its edge.

  2. Interacting outside the border

Blocks can be placed, broken and used on the far side of the border, so a house can be built out there.

  3. Border tint

A purple-ish tint on screen marks that the player is outside the border.

  4. Shrinking border and damage

The border can shrink over time, and the damage taken outside it can be scaled.

Use cases

Building beyond the edge

Players who want to build past the vanilla limit can place a house or other structures outside the original border.

Exploration challenges

A run can reward players for venturing far out, with growing damage as the border closes in on them.

Who it’s for: The mod suits players who want to explore or build beyond the vanilla world border, and server owners who run border-based events or minigames where the edge should be crossable.
