Universal Mod Localizer adds translation support for mods that the i18n update mod does not cover, and it runs on the client only.

What it does

The mod loads the latest resource pack on startup, fetching the newest version number and the pack itself from the network. Players then enable the pack by hand on the resource pack screen. Original mod details are kept on a backup page for reference. Only the player's own installation needs it, so servers run without it.

The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 49 release versions, 1.12 – 1.21.11. Its license is custom and the mod is not open source, though the source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Automatic pack fetch

    On load, the latest localization resource pack is fetched automatically from the network.

  2. Manual pack activation

    The fetched pack is not applied by default; it is enabled from the resource pack page.

  3. Network timeouts

    Version checks stop after 5 seconds and pack fetches after 60 seconds, so a slow connection does not stall startup.
