Unbreakable Leads

by wildbeast42

Unbreakable Leads keeps leashes from snapping, so a leashed mob stays attached to its lead holder once the lead is tied.

FabricServer-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only1.21.6 – 26.3

What it does

The mod stops leads from breaking when a leashed mob drifts too far away or when the holder moves quickly, including during firework-boosted elytra flight. Lead break sounds are muted to reduce sound clutter, and a mob that is pulled toward its holder moves along the rope without teleporting, which keeps the visuals close to vanilla behavior. Players can still remove a lead by right-clicking a mob or by shearing a happy ghast.

The mod is server-side only, so the server needs it and players join without installing anything. It requires Fabric API and works on Fabric alone, with files for 1.21.6 – 26.3 and 26.3 as the latest. Unbreakable Leads is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is not open source. Snapshot builds are published, and the first release dates from 2025-09-12.

Key features

  1. Leads that do not snap

A leashed entity stays attached regardless of distance or the holder's speed, so the lead does not break in most cases.

  2. Quiet lead breaks

The sound that plays when a lead breaks is muted, cutting down on noise around leashed animals.

  3. Vanilla-style pulling

A mob moves toward its holder along the lead without being teleported, so its appearance is unchanged.

  4. Manual removal kept

Leads can still be removed by right-clicking a mob or shearing a happy ghast, so players keep control.
