Traverse: Legacy
by Prospector
Traverse: Legacy adds 22 biomes to Forge worlds for 1.11.2 and 1.12.2, each with its own vegetation, colors and terrain shape.
What it does
The biomes are modeled on the feel of vanilla Minecraft, so they sit among the default biomes without standing out as a different style. Autumnal Woods and an autumnal oak forest bring orange and brown leaves, while Mini Jungle is a small jungle with two-by-two jungle trees on hilly, watery ground. Lush Swamp uses taller trees in a deep green swamp, and Red Desert is a regular desert built from red sand. Coniferous Forest has tall, densely packed fir trees over a varied landscape, and a plains-like biome with yellower grass, short trees and occasional fallen logs covers the middle range. Lush grassland with tall grass and flowers rounds out the set.
Traverse: Legacy is a world generation mod, and the biomes generate in new worlds as well as in chunks of existing ones. It has no required dependencies. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Files exist for Forge only, for 1.11.2 and 1.12.2, with 1.6.0+build.69 for 1.12.2 as the latest release, published on 2022-05-18. The code runs on client and server, so the server and every player need the mod.

How it compares
Caves Revamp: Underground biomes is a Forge mod for 1.12.2 that changes underground generation rather than surface biomes, and is released under the MIT License, the same license as Traverse: Legacy. Merged Biomes is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 under All rights reserved, which combines biome types rather than adding new ones. Giant Jungle Tree is available on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.16.5 – 1.21.11 under All rights reserved, and it adds a single large tree rather than a set of biomes.
