Translocators

by covers1624

Translocators moves items and liquids between nearby inventories through placed translocator blocks, with filters and redstone control on each face.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.5.2 – 1.21.1

What it does

A translocator is placed against an inventory and passes items or liquids into the neighbouring containers on its other sides. The centre piece protrudes from the block, and items or liquids flow out of the sides while the centre stays inset. Non-redstone outputs always receive a share, and available outputs are filled evenly, so a single source can feed several targets at once. When an item is taken, the slot holding the largest stack gives up its contents first.

Each face can be set separately. Right-clicking a clocking plate opens a configurable filter, and a glowstone plate makes transfers happen on a timer. Adding redstone lets a translocator switch between input and output under a redstone signal. An inserting face only accepts items that fill the inventory to match the filter, while an ejecting face only sends out items that do not match it. A diamond nugget added at a diamond crafting table turns a translocator into a regulating mode that keeps a set amount of items in the attached inventory, and an iron ingot makes it emit a redstone signal when that condition is met.

The mod requires CB Multipart and CodeChicken Lib. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across 11 release versions, 1.5.2 – 1.21.1, and the code is licensed under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Item and fluid translocators

Translocators come in two forms, one for items and one for fluids, and move contents within the same block space.

  2. Filters and face modes

Each face can accept or eject only items that match a filter, or only items that do not match it.

  3. Regulating mode

A translocator upgraded with a diamond nugget keeps a set amount of items in the attached inventory.

  4. Crafting grid

A grid placed by pressing C accepts items by right-clicking and attempts to craft them, and it clears after a period of disuse.

Questions

Do translocators need CB Multipart and CodeChicken Lib?

Yes. CB Multipart and CodeChicken Lib are required dependencies and must be installed alongside Translocators.

Does Translocators have to be installed on the server?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

How are the translocator upgrades applied?

A diamond nugget added at a diamond crafting table gives a regulating mode, an iron ingot adds redstone output, and a glowstone plate sets timed transfers. Shift-right-clicking a plate strips the upgrades from a placed translocator.
