Trajectory Estimation
by MistyOrchid
Trajectory Estimation draws the predicted flight path of thrown items and projectiles on the player's screen while aiming, covering bows, crossbows, tridents and several other vanilla items.
What it does
The rendering happens on the client, so the trajectory appears while a player aims a bow, crossbow, trident, snowball, egg, experience bottle, ender pearl or potion bottle. A sound reminder can play when the aimed path reaches an entity, which helps players judge hits without a second look at the line. The mod also includes support for a few added mod items, such as the Tide Trident and the Lich Staff, and can detect the main and off hand when choosing which item to predict.
Each item can be turned on or off separately, along with its trajectory rendering and sound reminder, through an in-game configuration screen. A single set of global options controls how big and what color the drawn trajectory is, and it can appear as either a cube or a line. Some mods that change the camera view or the shooting method are also supported. The mod runs with Mod Menu as an optional dependency for opening its settings screen, and it is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.
Files target 1.18.2 – 1.21.1 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the latest builds for 1.21.1 and 1.20.1 were published on 2024-10-07. Because the mod is client-side only, servers run without it and players need nothing installed beyond the mod itself.
