TPSnitch
by Dashtiss
TPSnitch is a Fabric server utility that writes server tick rate, tick time and player count to a timestamped log at set intervals.
What it does
TPSnitch monitors server performance by sampling ticks per second (TPS), milliseconds per tick (MSPT) and the number of connected players. Each sample is written to a JSON file keyed by timestamp, so a server owner can trace how load changed over time. Player count is updated from join and leave events rather than polled.
The sampling interval is set in the mod's configuration, so the log can be made coarser or finer depending on how much history is needed. Utility functions read TPS and MSPT from the server object, which lets other server-side code use the same values. The mod is installed by placing its jar in the server's mods folder and starting the server; it requires Fabric API and Java 21.
TPSnitch is server-side only, so players join without installing it. The code is released under the Apache License 2.0 and is open source; source code and an issue tracker are linked from its public pages. Files are published for Fabric only, across 16 release versions 1.21 – 26.2, with 1.3.4 for 26.2 as the latest build from 2026-07-09.
Key features
TPS and MSPT logging
Server tick rate and milliseconds per tick are recorded automatically at each sample, giving a history of server load.
Player count tracking
The number of connected players is updated from join and leave events and stored alongside each sample.
JSON output
Samples are written to a JSON file keyed by timestamp, which loads straightforwardly into a script or spreadsheet.
Configurable intervals
The interval between samples can be changed in the configuration, trading log size for detail.
Server utility functions
Helper functions return the current TPS and MSPT from the server object for other code to call.

How it compares
TPS Reforged runs on Fabric for 1.21.1 with client and server environment and is not open source. Tab TPS is server-side only, covers 1.20.1 – 26.2 on Fabric, and is not open source. MiniHUD MSPT Provider is also server-side only and open source under CC0 1.0 Universal, but it is limited to 26.1 – 26.1.2, while TPSnitch logs to a file rather than showing values in-game.
