TotemCore

by lakicore

TotemHelper keeps a totem of undying in a chosen hotbar slot or in the offhand, moving it there whenever a container screen opens.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.5 – 1.21.11

What it does

When a player opens a chest or another container, the hotbar selector follows the configured totem slot, and a totem held in the hand moves to the offhand slot, so the item stays within reach. Closing the screen returns the selector to the totem. The mod does nothing while the player carries an item on the cursor and stays inactive outside container screens. Holding a totem in the offhand takes priority over the configured slot, and if both already hold one, nothing happens.

The mod is a client-side quality-of-life addition for the Fabric loader and requires Fabric API. Each press runs ordinary inventory clicks identical to the swap a player makes by pressing F over a slot, transmitting the same packets the vanilla client transmits, so no server-side mod is involved. Files for TotemHelper are released under the MIT License and are not open source. Builds cover 1.21.5 – 1.21.11, and the latest file is 1.0.0+1.21.11 for 1.21.11, published on 2026-08-06.

Key features

  1. Configurable totem slot

Players choose the hotbar slot where a totem should be kept, and the mod tells the hotbar selector which slot that is.

  2. Offhand totem placement

A totem held in hand is moved to the offhand slot, so it does not have to be dragged around each time it is needed.

  3. Hover-based picking

Hovering over a totem stack in an open container moves one totem per hover to the offhand, filling the slot with the next one.

  4. Vanilla key bindings

The binding is listed in the Key Binds section under Options, Controls, in the TotemHelper category, and it can be changed to any key.

What the author says

TotemHelper A client-side quality-of-life mod that keeps a totem of undying in the slot you chose. You tell TotemHelper which hotbar slot your totem belongs in. From then on it makes sure a totem actually ends up there — and in your offhand — instead of you dragging it around by hand every time you pick a new one up.
