Tools Durability HUD

by Mr_Ars11

Tools Durability HUD shows the durability of the tools a player holds on the heads-up display, so the numbers stay visible during play.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.4

What it does

The mod draws the remaining durability of the tool in use directly on the HUD, without opening the inventory to check it. The display appears automatically when the player starts using an item and updates in real time as the item wears down. Players who switch between several tools see the value of whichever one is currently in hand.

Once an item drops to a critical level, the mod issues a warning so the player can switch tools or repair before it breaks. The warning is meant for the moments when a break would matter most, such as mid-mining or during a long fight. Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric 1.21.4, and the mod runs on the client alone, so servers do not need it. The code is released under the MIT License, but the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Live durability display

The remaining durability of the held tool is drawn on the HUD and refreshes while the item is used.

  2. Automatic appearance

The display shows up on its own when an item starts to wear, with no key press or menu step needed.

  3. Low durability warnings

A warning fires once an item's durability drops to a critical level, before the tool breaks.

  4. Inventory-free checks

Current wear is readable from the play screen, so the inventory does not have to be opened mid-task.

Use cases

Long mining runs

Players digging through a large area can track a pickaxe or shovel without stopping to open the inventory.

Combat with a single weapon

A sword or bow near the end of its durability can be swapped out in time, as the warning appears before the break.

Who it’s for: Players who use tools for long stretches of play and want their remaining durability visible at all times. The mod suits single-player and multiplayer clients alike, since it needs nothing on the server.
