Tolerable Creepers

by Farcr

Tolerable Creepers changes how Creepers behave, so they summon Creepies, break blocks less often and drop spores that can be harvested.

What it does

Creepers in this mod keep their explosions but gain new effects. When a Creeper explodes it can summon Creepies, small companions that attack anything they hit. The mod also changes griefing: Creepers do not break blocks in the way vanilla does, and the change can be undone through the config file, which restores the original Creeper griefing behavior.

Creepers release cloud spores when they blow up, and those spores can generate new, tougher foes. Spores are harvested by killing a Creeper with explosions, and the collected spores can be used to summon loyal Creepies of the player's own. The mod also includes Mischief Arrows for pranks and Spore Crates for storing spores. Installing Man's Land adds throwable Spore Bombs as an extra integration.

Tolerable Creepers is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Cloud spores and Creepie behavior are set in the config file, and Cloth Config API is an optional dependency that gives a settings screen. Files are published for Fabric and NeoForge, both for 1.21.1, with the latest file dated 2026-07-14. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source, though its source code and issue tracker are public.

How it compares

Full comparison

Adapted Mobs is client and server, published for Fabric and NeoForge on 1.21.1, and released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Creepy Wolves is a Fabric-only mod for 1.21.1 under the MIT License and open source, so it changes wolves instead of Creepers. Nocreepers is server-side only and published for 1.21.11, so players join without installing it, which differs from Tolerable Creepers, where both sides need the mod.
