Toggleable Textures

by rajeshnithin2305

Toggleable Textures lets players switch selected block and item textures between Minecraft versions from an in-game menu, without installing a full resource pack.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 26.3

What it does

Per-block and per-item texture choices are listed in a Minecraft-style menu, with a search bar for supported textures and preview icons for each option. Choices can be cycled between versions, and the Apply button reloads only the textures the player picked.

Older textures are taken from the local Minecraft installation, because the mod ships no Mojang assets of its own. To make an older option available, the player launches a vanilla version that includes it at least once through the Minecraft Launcher. Textures from enabled resource packs are supported, and texture options that a resource pack overrides disappear from the menu. The default key opens the menu. Fabric Loader and Fabric API are needed, and the mod is client-side only, so servers do not need it. The mod is published for Fabric across 3 release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.3, and is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Per-block texture selection

Each block and item can be given its own texture from the list of supported options.

  2. Searchable menu with previews

A search bar filters the supported textures, and preview icons show each selected texture before it is applied.

  3. Targeted reloading

The Apply button reloads only the textures that were chosen, instead of restarting the whole resource stack.

  4. Resource pack compatibility

Textures from enabled resource packs are supported, and conflicting options vanish from the menu.

Use cases

Revisiting older looks

Players who want the blocks of earlier releases can switch individual textures back without replacing the whole game style.

Who it’s for: Players who want older or alternate block and item textures on a Fabric client. Servers do not need the mod.

Questions

Does Toggleable Textures need Fabric API?

Yes. The mod is published for Fabric only, so Fabric Loader and Fabric API must be installed with the matching file.

Do servers need Toggleable Textures?

No. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game.

Why does an older texture not appear in the menu?

Older textures come from the local Minecraft installation, so a version must be launched at least once through the Minecraft Launcher before its options show up.
