To Hell With You
by MachaCeleste
To Hell With You changes what happens when a player dies in survival, adding a last-chance route back and a harsher final death.
What it does
The mod rethinks the death mechanic in Minecraft. Instead of a single respawn, a death can open a second chance, where the player is given a way to recover before the loss becomes permanent. If that chance is missed or used up, a final death follows, and the nether plays a role in the return path. The design is aimed at survival worlds where losing a life should carry more weight.
The mod runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. Its files are published for Forge on Minecraft 1.19.2 and 1.20.1, and the latest Forge file, 1.19.2-1.0.1, dates from 2025-04-29. Public links to the code and bug reports are available on the project page.
Key features
Second chance after death
A death can trigger a built-in last-chance system that gives the player one more route to recover.
Final death in the nether
When the second chance is lost, the death becomes final, with the nether serving as the place where the return is decided.
Return redemption
Players who fall can earn a way back, which gives the death mechanic a path to redemption rather than only a penalty.
Hardcore variant
The mod offers a fresh take on hardcore play, with high stakes built around the last-chance system.

Use cases
Who it’s for: The mod suits survival players who want a stricter death system, and server owners who want to change how death works for the whole community. Because it is server-side only, clients on a server that runs it do not need to install it.
