Timewarp
by Dooji
Timewarp brings older Minecraft mechanics back into the world, with selected areas that can be set to play like early versions of the game.
What it does
Players mark a region with the Timewarp Axe, then run a command to create a named area from the selected corners. Each area can be given a custom name, such as an alpha-era label, and its rules follow the older gameplay chosen for it. Holding the axe shows the areas within render distance, so their boundaries can be seen before entering.
Areas can hold random challenges that pull in old-school mechanics, and most behavior is adjustable. Settings control how time shifts work, which mechanics apply, and whether sprinting is allowed as in early versions. All area data is stored in the world's root folder in a timewarp data file, so the setup is specific to each world. Server owners and players can edit the configuration directly through commands or by changing that file.
The mod runs on Fabric and requires Fabric API. It is compatible with NeoForge through Sinytra Connector, which in turn needs Forgified Fabric API. Timewarp runs in a client and server environment, so the server and every player need the mod. It is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is open source. Files are published for 1.21 and 1.21.1, and the latest Fabric build is 1.1.7 for 1.21.1.
Key features
Old mechanics in custom areas
Selected areas can run with older rules, such as food that does not stack and sheep that drop wool when punched.
Axe-based area selection
The Timewarp Axe marks corners, and a command turns them into a named area that players can see while holding the axe.
Random challenges
Areas can add random challenges tied to old gameplay, so each visit can differ from the last.
World-specific settings
Areas and their settings are saved in the world folder, so each world has its own Timewarp setup.
Adjustable time shift
Options control how time shifts work and which early mechanics are active, letting owners tune the feel of each area.
