TimeUp

by commonplace

TimeUp lets a player freeze most of the world with a single command, and the command toggles the state back off.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21

What it does

Running the time-up command switches the time stop on or off. While it is on, entities, players, block updates, fluid updates, mob effects and particles stop advancing, while the world's time and entity update events are held in place. Item models stay updated, and shader textures keep running, so the screen still reflects what is happening during the freeze.

Players remain free to move between dimensions while the stop is active, which lets a group keep travelling during a frozen session. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.21 only, with the latest files dated 2026-02-23 on Fabric and NeoForge and 2026-02-21 on Forge. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Iris Shaders is an optional dependency for shader support.

TimeUp is published with public links for source code, an issue tracker and a wiki, and the code is open source under the same license. The mod was first published on 2026-02-21 and last updated on 2026-02-23.

Key features

  1. Single command toggle

One time-up command turns the time stop on and off, so the freeze can be started and ended from the same input.

  2. Broad world freeze

Entities, players, blocks, fluids, mob effects and particles all stop updating while the stop is active.

  3. Held world time

The world's time and entity update events are paused, so day and night and scheduled events hold their place.

  4. Cross-dimension movement

With the stop active, players are still allowed to move into other dimensions.

Use cases

Frozen scenes on a server

A server owner or game master can freeze the world to pause a build, a cutscene or an event, then resume it with the same command.

Recording and screenshots

Players capturing a scene can hold the world still while they set up the shot, with shader textures continuing to update.

Who it’s for: Server owners, game masters and players who want to pause the world during a build, event or recording session. Because the freeze applies to most of the world, it suits planned pauses more than normal play.
