ThreadTweak
by getchoo
With ThreadTweak installed, players can change how Minecraft's CPU threads are prioritized, a maintained fork of the Smooth Boot mod for version 1.20 and later.
What it does
ThreadTweak manages CPU scheduling for the game's threads. It is a maintained version of the final release of Smooth Boot and keeps the ability to change thread priorities while the game is running. The original mod's main purpose, a faster launch, was already handled in Minecraft 1.19.4, so ThreadTweak focuses on priority adjustments that can still help on some systems.
The mod loads on Fabric and Quilt and requires Fabric API on both loaders. Either side can run it, and neither needs it. The code is open source under the MIT License. Files exist for 1.20 – 1.21.11 across 17 release versions, and the latest file, 0.1.8 for 1.21.11, was published on 2026-02-20. The first release dates from 2023-07-03.
Key features
Adjustable thread priorities
Priorities for the game's CPU threads can be changed while Minecraft is running, without restarting the client.
Smooth Boot lineage
The project continues the final Smooth Boot release, so settings from that mod remain the reference point.

Use cases
Systems where thread priority still matters
Some computers see benefit from adjusting thread priorities, and this mod keeps that control available on modern versions.
Players on newer releases
Anyone running Minecraft 1.20 or later who wants the Smooth Boot approach can use this fork in place of the original.
Who it’s for: Players who want to tune CPU thread priorities on Minecraft 1.20 and later, and players who used Smooth Boot on older versions and need a version that still runs on current releases.
How it compares
Smooth Boot (Fabric) is open source under the MIT License and covers Fabric and Quilt for 1.16.1 – 1.19.4, so it does not reach the newer versions ThreadTweak targets. Where's my Brain (WMB) is not open source, is published for Fabric and Forge across 1.20.1 – 1.21.8, and is released under All rights reserved. Serverlist Fix is a Fabric-only, client-side mod under the CC0 1.0 Universal license for 1.16 – 26.3, and it changes nothing about thread scheduling.

What the author says
ThreadTweak lets you improve and tweak Minecraft CPU scheduling. It is a maintained version of the original Smooth Boot mod, allowing you to still change CPU thread priorities in-game. While the main function of Smooth Boot was fixed in 1.19.4, the mod still allows you to adjust thread priorities, which can still be…
