The Ore Is A Lie!

by Pjluna

The Ore Is A Lie adds ores that look like real ores but produce something else when mined, spawned among normal ores in caves and mountains.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltClient and serverApache License 2.0Open source1.19.2 – 1.21.11

What it does

Fake ores are placed by world generation alongside vanilla ores in caves, ravines and underground systems. Each one mimics the appearance of a real ore, so the texture of a vein gives no hint of its contents. Breaking a fake ore may drop nothing, set off an explosion, spawn mobs or apply a curse, instead of the expected loot.

The mod is meant for Survival and Hardcore play, where digging carries risk. In Creative mode the fake ores have no effect, and builders and explorers who do not dig them are unaffected. Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric, and the server and every player must run the mod, since the fake ores are placed by the world generator. The code is open source under the Apache License 2.0, and files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.19.2 – 1.21.11.

Key features

  1. Deceptive ore blocks

Fake ores are visually identical to real ores, so a vein reveals nothing until it is broken.

  2. Varied outcomes

Some fake ores drop nothing, some explode, some spawn mobs and others apply a curse to the player.

  3. Natural world generation

Fake ores spawn with the normal ores in caves, ravines and mountainsides, blending into existing terrain.

  4. Survival and Hardcore focus

The effects apply only in Survival and Hardcore modes, leaving Creative and builders unaffected.
