The lost cities

by Sunshainy

With The lost cities installed on a server, the Overworld can be generated as an abandoned, overgrown city, with cities placed across the whole map instead of vanilla terrain alone.

What it does

The mod is an unofficial Fabric port of the Lost Cities mod originally created by McJty. It generates complete cities with buildings, streets, highways, bridges, railways and monorails, and offers 17 generation profiles, including ordinary cities, megacities, rare cities, cavern cities and floating cities. A profile picker on the world creation screen selects one before a world is made, and an onlycities option shows nothing but the city content.

Cities are kept away from villages and other structures, and custom blocks and items are built to work with vanilla clients that join a dedicated server. Twelve commands handle locating and mapping cities, and a city author can define assets in the world. Full datapack support lets buildings, parts, palettes, city styles, conditions and variants be defined in data. The server side is required, while the client may run without the mod.

Lost Cities Modern Tweaks and Luki's Ancient Cities are other city generators for Fabric and other loaders. Installation requires Forge Config API Port, which supplies the config API on Fabric, and Cloth Config API is optional. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source, with the source code published.

Key features

  1. Complete city generation

Cities include buildings, streets, highways, bridges, railways and monorails, generated as one connected layout.

  2. 17 generation profiles

Profiles range from ordinary cities and megacities to rare cities, cavern cities and floating cities.

  3. Structure avoidance

Generated cities stay clear of villages and other structures, so existing ones are not overlapped.

  4. Datapack support

Buildings, parts, palettes, city styles, conditions and variants can be added through datapacks.
