The Between
by Ninni
Between adds portal-based fast travel for Forge 1.20.1, where players link their own portals into teleportation networks built from engraved corners.
What it does
Between portals are built from a minimum size of 2×2 instead of 3×2, and they can be assembled vertically or sideways. Like Nether portals, they are lit with a flint and steel style action, but linking depends on engravings: two portals connect automatically when their corner carvings match, and portals link only within the same dimension. Four corners must be engraved before a portal activates.
The main building material is the Keystone, a durable block that only breaks with diamond-tier tools, and the engraving is done with the main tool. Ruined Between portals are scattered across three dimensions, with the Overworld holding the most common ones, and their structures contain valuable loot including Keystone material needed to build new portals. Because the mod is client and server, the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge only, for 1.20.1 alone, and the code is closed: the mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
