Tis But A Scratch
by AyUpItsAli
Tis But A Scratch removes the red tint that appears on entities when they take damage, a visual effect that some players find distracting.
What it does
The mod turns off the red overlay drawn over mobs and players after they are hit. Only the on-screen tint changes; damage, health and combat stay as they are in the base game. Players who use shaders tend to find the flash more noticeable, since shader pipelines can make the overlay stand out, and the mod is aimed at them.
Tis But A Scratch is client-side only, so only the player's game needs it and a server runs without it. It is open source under the MIT License and is published for Forge. Files cover 1.18 – 1.20.4 across 13 release versions, and the latest Forge file, 1.0.0-1.20.1, targets 1.20.4 and was released on 2024-06-17.
Key features
Red damage tint disabled
Entities keep their normal colors when hit, with no red flash drawn over them.
Client-only change
Only the client's rendering is altered, so servers and other players are unaffected.
Shader-friendly visuals
Removing the flash helps when a shader pack makes the red overlay look too strong.
Pairs with Blood Gore
Players who want a more pronounced damage effect can combine the mod with Blood Gore, which is available for only a few Minecraft versions.

Use cases
Shader packs
A player running shaders who finds the damage flash distracting can remove the tint while keeping the shader's other effects.
Pairing with gore mods
Players who run Blood Gore and want its effects without the red overlay on top can use this mod alongside it.
Who it’s for: Players who play with Forge and want to remove the red damage overlay on mobs and players. Single-player and multiplayer clients both run it alone.
How it compares
Gore and More is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that is client and server and has all rights reserved, so it adds content on both sides and is not open source. Blood And Stuff is also Forge, client and server, all rights reserved, and covers 1.19.2. Gore Death is Forge for 1.20.1, client and server, under the MIT License, but it is not open source. Tis But A Scratch is the only option here that is client-side only.
