Suspicious Zombification

by bl4ckscor3

Suspicious Zombification turns animals into zombified versions of themselves after players eat suspicious pumpkin pies, adding effects and a ritual structure to Minecraft.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.16.5 – 1.21.11

What it does

Eating a suspicious pumpkin pie gives the player the Zombie's Curse effect, which makes nearby animals zombify and fight off zombies. Suspicious pumpkin pies also grant the vanilla effects that suspicious stew grants, along with a few new ones. While the curse lasts, other effects the player has can be raised in level, and Jump Boost becomes Jump Boost II. Once the effect wears off, a zombified animal converts back to its normal form. The mod also reduces fall damage and knockback, and entities in the vicinity that smell badly can make other entities feel sick. Zombified animals slowly decompose, and death is inevitable for them.

The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with a public source code repository and issue tracker. Files exist for Forge and NeoForge across 22 game versions, 1.16.5 – 1.21.11. It was made during SpookyJam 2021, and the latest NeoForge file is v1.3.2 for 1.21.11.

Key features

  1. Zombified animals

Chickens, cows, pigs, sheep and cats each get a zombified form with its own drops, such as rotten eggs or spoiled milk.

  2. Suspicious ritual structure

A chiseled stone brick structure with four pumpkins and a wooden fence in the middle, topped by a trophy, builds the ritual.

  3. Difficulty and range settings

Server owners can disable zombifying prey on Normal and Hard difficulty, turn off zombified cats' morning gifts, and stop players with the curse from zombifying animals in range.

  4. Zombified cats

Zombified cats bring their owners different kinds of gifts and candies in the morning, unless the setting is disabled.
