Sugar Beetroot

by Alex_yt

Sugar Beetroot lets players craft sugar from beetroots and water at a crafting table, so sugar no longer depends only on sugarcane.

ForgeServer-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

The mod adds a crafting recipe that turns beetroots and water into sugar, giving players a second route to an ingredient that many recipes call for. Beetroot fields can be planted and harvested in the usual way, so a farm can supply sugar without any sugarcane.

The sugar made this way is meant for cooking and brewing. Cakes, potions and other recipes that need sugar can use it, which widens the options for farms built around beetroots. Players who play on a server running the mod use the same recipe, and the server is the only side that needs the mod installed.

The mod is built for Forge and targets 1.20.1 only, with a single file released on 2024-10-05. It is server-side only, so players join a server that runs it without installing anything, and the code is under All rights reserved, not open source.

Key features

  1. Beetroot to sugar recipe

A crafting table recipe combines beetroots with water to produce sugar for use in other recipes.

  2. Farming beetroots for sugar

Beetroot crops can be grown in fields, so a farm can supply sugar without relying on sugarcane.

  3. Sugar in cooking and brewing

The sugar from beetroots can be used in cakes, potions and other recipes that normally call for sugar.

  4. New options for farms

Beetroots gain a second use as a sugar source, which adds variety to farms built around crops.

Use cases

Farms without sugarcane

A player whose world has little sugarcane can grow beetroots in fields and turn the harvest into sugar at a crafting table.

Cooking with beetroot meals

Players who build beetroot-based kitchens can use the sugar in cakes and potions instead of carrying sugarcane from elsewhere.

Who it’s for: Players on Forge 1.20.1 who want sugar from beetroots, and server owners who want to add that recipe to a server without requiring anything on the client side.
