Spore inquisition
by Minigato668
Spore Inquisition is a data pack for Fungal Infection: Spore that changes how the infection spreads, replacing spawns in the dark with Mounds.
What it does
The data pack reworks the spore infection so it spreads the way the flesh that hates does. Infected no longer spawn in darkness. Instead the infection grows out from Mounds, which are mostly placed on land, so caves see fewer outbreaks and Proto Hiveminds no longer appear underground. Hunger timers apply to infected, evolved, hyper and gastgaber mobs. Evolved mobs can stop their hunger by eating biomass bulbs, while hypers and gastgabers cannot eat them and die instead.
Infected mobs do not despawn unless the infected limit is reached or a Proto or an F F removes them. Over time Mounds can generate infected humans, and after a long period they die and leave a scamper that spreads the infection to more land. The number of Protos in a world sets how many Mounds and raids appear. The mod works in every dimension, so a Proto Hivemind can reach a player wherever they travel. It is a server-side data pack, and the author recommends running a performance mod alongside it to keep the server responsive.
Key features
Mound-based spread
The infection expands from Mounds instead of spawning in the dark, and the spread follows the flesh-like pattern described by the author.
Hunger timers for mobs
Infected, evolved, hyper and gastgaber mobs each have hunger timers, and evolved mobs can recover by eating biomass bulbs.
Wider spore attacks
Spore mobs attack almost every type of animal, which changes how the infection affects the surrounding wildlife.
Persistent infected mobs
Infected mobs do not despawn except at the infected limit or when a Proto or an F F removes them.
Protos drive raids
The number of Protos in a world raises the number of Mounds and raids, so the infection grows with the world's Proto count.
