Sneaky Player Names
Sneaky Player Names hides the name tags of other players once they are beyond a distance set in the client config, so sneaking up on someone stays possible.
What it does
The mod changes only what the local client draws: other players farther away than the configured maximum distance have their name tags hidden. A negative distance means no limit, and a value of 0 never shows names. Settings are kept in sneaky player names.properties inside the config directory, which is generated on first launch; if that file cannot be read, the built-in defaults are used. Sneaky Player Names is client-side only, so only the client needs it, and it runs on Fabric and Quilt for 1.21 – 1.21.5, under the MIT License and open source.
Key features
Distance-based name hiding
Player names beyond the set distance are not drawn, while nearby players keep their tags.
Configurable maximum distance
The distance is set in the properties file, where 0 hides all names and a negative value removes the limit.
Hide names when out of sight
A true or false option decides whether names of players out of sight are hidden as well.
