SmartChest
SmartChest turns a single chest into a 540-slot storage block with multiple pages, so a player can keep many stacks in one place without building a storage network.
What it does
Each SmartChest holds 540 slots spread across several pages. A player moves between pages inside the chest screen, and each page can carry its own icon item to make it easier to find the right one. A sort button arranges the items on the current page, which keeps large collections tidy without extra machines.
The block is built to sit alongside vanilla Minecraft, so it uses the familiar chest interface and handling rather than a separate storage system. Its high durability and explosion resistance make it hard to destroy, which suits bases where a stored collection should stay in place. The code is open source under the MIT License.
A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 released on 2026-08-31.
Key features
540 slots in one block
A single chest block offers 540 storage slots, spread across several pages inside one block.
Multiple pages
Items are spread across several pages inside one chest, so each page can hold a separate category of stacks.
Page icons
Each page can show an item as its icon, making it quicker to locate the right page while browsing.
One-button sorting

Hard to destroy

Use cases
Base storage
A base with a large mixed inventory can keep it in a few blocks instead of a row of standard chests.
Organized sorting
Players who separate materials by type can give each page its own icon and sort it on demand.
Who it’s for: Players who want more storage in a single block, and server owners who want a chest that stays close to vanilla behavior.
How it compares
ChestLabels lets players attach labels to chests and is client-side only, so servers run without it; it is open source under the MIT License and published for 1.20 – 1.21.1. Another Chests is a client and server mod for 1.19.2 – 1.21.11 under All rights reserved, which keeps its source closed. PPack Up is a client and server mod for 1.20.1 – 1.21.11 with the same All rights reserved license. Sort Sage is a server-side only mod for 1.20.1 and is not open source.
