Sky Islands Dimension

The dimension uses the namespace skydim:overworld and can be reached with an execute command instead of a portal from a datapack. Weather runs normally there, and the weather command only changes the default overworld, while time and weather stay synced with the default overworld. Because the lower layers of the dimension are dark, players are advised to bring torches before fighting the many monsters that spawn.

The generator places floating islands, and biomes from Terrablender are placed through its function as well. A datapack that extends world height is strongly recommended, since the top of the skylands sits at the default build height. Ocean, river and similar biomes are replaced with other biomes, and the features that normally place in the lower layers are not placed there.

The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt, with files for 1.20.1 only, and it is released under the MIT License but is not open source. Only the server needs it for the mod to work, so players may join without installing it. It is also available as a data pack, and the Fabric and Quilt builds are covered by the 1.20.1 – 1.21.11 listing on the platform.
