What it does

Simple 3x3 Pickaxe is a utility mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. When a player breaks one block with the custom pickaxe, the blocks around it in a 3×3 pattern break too. Block drops are collected the way normal mining collects them, so ores, stone and other materials behave as they do in vanilla survival. Tool durability falls according to the number of blocks broken, which keeps the tool from becoming overpowered.

The mod changes no dimensions, mobs or progression systems. It is aimed at players who want faster digging for cave clearing, strip mining, base construction and automated builds while keeping the vanilla feel. Client and server both need the mod, and the files cover 1.20.1 and 1.21.8 – 1.21.11, with the latest Fabric file at 0.1 for 1.21.11, the latest Forge file at 2.1 for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file at 1.1 for 1.21.11. The code is released under the Apache License 2.0 and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Area mining

Breaking one block with the custom pickaxe also removes the neighboring blocks in a square patch.

  2. Normal drops

Ores, stone and other materials drop and are collected as they would with a standard pickaxe.

  3. Durability by blocks broken

Durability decreases with the number of blocks broken, so each area mined costs more than a single block.

  4. Lightweight utility

The mod adds only the custom pickaxe and its mining behavior, with no new dimensions, mobs or machines.

Questions
