Serene Seasons Plus
by Gaboouu
Serene Seasons Plus extends Serene Seasons with sub-season day and night timing and snow that piles and melts per player.
What it does
Snow accumulation and melting follow a per-player model. Snow builds up during snowfall, and melting strips layers away one at a time instead of deleting the block outright. The mod tracks the target layer count for each block and adds or removes layers to match it. When the first snow of the colder months arrives, an internal counter resets, and a random average depth is chosen for each area and applied.
Day and night length change across the seasons when Better Days is present, and season timing follows average Montreal, Quebec climate data, so a real-world February places the world in mid-winter. Snow can be driven by cloud data and works alongside Project Atmosphere, sharing data with it when installed. SnowStorm integration is planned and still in development. The mod requires Serene Seasons, Better Days and Mod Menu, and the code is available as source. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across seven versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.11.
Key features
Per-player snow
Snow piles and melts separately for each player rather than applying one global state to the world.
Gradual melting
Snow melting removes layers progressively, so a snow block is reduced step by step instead of disappearing at once.
Seasonal day length
With Better Days installed, the length of days and nights changes through the seasons.
Random snow depth
Each area receives an average snow depth chosen when the colder months begin.

Use cases
Winter survival maps
Snow that builds up and thins out over the seasons suits survival worlds where weather affects travel and building.
Climate-based worlds
Season timing follows real-world climate averages, which suits builders who want the calendar to match a northern region.
Who it’s for: Players who run Serene Seasons and want more natural snow behavior, and server owners who host seasonal worlds with the same mod set on both sides.
How it compares
Immersive Snow is server-side only, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.16.5 – 1.21.4, so players can join without installing it. Everlasting Winter runs on client and server, is not open source, and is published for 1.20 – 1.21.1. Solstice Dynamic Seasons also runs on client and server, is not open source and covers 1.20.1 – 1.21.11, the same range as this mod.
