Scorched Earth is a Forge survival mod for 1.20.1 in which players start in a sealed underground bunker, and every step outside means facing radiation.
What it does
Players begin inside a sealed bunker, the only safe place in an irradiated wasteland. The bunker core is the BCU, short for Bunker Control Unit, which handles power, life support and upgrades. Outside the base, radiation is the main threat: without protection it poisons players and drains health quickly. Scarce resources have to be gathered and spent on shelter, protective gear and weapons to survive.
The mod is built for single-player and server play, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.20.1. A Russian version is also listed. The mod is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and is not open source.
Key features
Energy management
The BCU tracks the bunker's energy reserves, and the Basic Module raises capacity and opens new upgrades.
Medical and greenhouse modules
The Medical Module heals and manipulates player recovery, while the Greenhouse Module lets crops grow safely inside the bunker.
Hazmat suit and radiation
The Hazmat Suit protects against radiation but requires power, and a meter shows radiation levels around the player.
Storage and canned food
The Storage Module expands room for resources, and canned food gives non-perishable nourishment for long trips outside.
